The hand in chain can symbolize the people who still feel chained down because they can't be themselves or they still have to hide things from others, from themselves...it can symbolize that even though we are still in a war and fighting that we are still strong and not giving up even though we're chained down by the government at times because they have a tendacy to restrict is of our rights of our lives, chained down by hatred amongst ourselves and others. And yet there's hope and peace among us, look at 9/11 we still came together and forgot about the problems and were able to put aside differences and pray for each other, be there for each other. Look at concerts and even places where people watched the World Cup, when Landon Donovan scored that winning goal and everyone came together and cheered, and at concerts when you don't care who's sitting next to you, you don't care who's gay, straight, or bisexual, you can all enjoy the music or wherever you are and whatever you have in common. I still respect the fact people are fighting and dying for their own countries regardless of whether or not we believe in it, fact is we're all here for a purpose. We're all here to celebrate with each other, to grieve together, to cry together, to be strong together, to fight together, to love together, to understand together or at least tolerate together, and to be equal together.

The face of me with NOH8 painted on my cheek represents no hatred among each other and a tolerance. No hatred for gays, bisexuals, transgenders...we are all different and shouldn't critisize or disregard each other, and most certainly not show hatred. If we all demanded respect from each other the way we do money things could definately be better off.

The Statue of Liberty, Lady Liberty represents a gift from France, a symbol of peace and hope. A symbol of strength and light. A symbol guidance and standing tall.

The cloud with the sun rays shining through also represents hope and peace. A sign that the future can be brighter if we really want it to. If we really try hard enough. That's up to us, not anyone.

And the flag of course represents patriotism and the American spirit. The stars for every state, all 50 of them. The stripes for the 13 original colonies: Conneticticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusettes, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Virginia, and Virgina. The red for the blood that was shed, and I like to say the blue is for the waters that Christoper Columbus crossed when he discovered America, or the New Land. And that flag still flies high as it always has.

So I like how the picture came out and how I made the collage. I think in a way it does represent democracy and America.
